Beyond the Swiss mandate

North America news distribution for Swiss issuers

When your communications strategy reaches past the regulatory minimum – into the US and Canada, in one release.

North America news distribution sends a Swiss release to databases, aggregators, broker terminals, financial portals and media across the United States and Canada through TMX Newsfile, in the same workflow as your ad hoc release. It is billed per distribution, not as an annual fee, and it is an extension of your existing subscription rather than a separate contract.

What this is

Reach beyond the mandated recipients

Swiss ad hoc publicity requires distribution to a defined set of Swiss and pan-European recipients. For issuers whose story needs to reach North American audiences – US and Canadian media, financial databases, broker terminals, and institutional investors – we distribute your release across the TMX Newsfile North America circuit. This extended reach is billed per distribution, plus a small annual maintenance fee, so you pay for the releases that warrant it.

The mandated distribution and the AWP feed cover Switzerland and Europe, as described on our ad hoc publicity page. This page covers everything beyond that, for issuers who want a wider audience in North America.

Broker & financial terminals

The terminals used by dealers, brokers and buy-side desks in the US and Canada.

The full, named recipient list is available as a PDF download.

Where it fits

The mandated minimum, AWP, and North America

Three layers of reach, from the regulatory floor upward: the mandated Swiss recipients you must serve, the AWP feed that broadens that across Swiss and European terminals, and the North America circuit that extends into the US and Canada when your story calls for it.

Layer 1

Mandated Swiss recipients

SIX Exchange Regulation, electronic information systems, Swiss media of national significance, your subscribers and your website.

Included in your ad hoc subscription

Layer 2

AWP feed

Broadens reach across Swiss and European terminals and media, including Bloomberg in original text service.

Included in every ad hoc subscription

Layer 3

North America circuit

Extends reach into the US and Canada: databases, broker terminals, media and portals, analysts and institutions, Yahoo Finance and investing.com.

Extension, billed per distribution

The first two layers are part of every ad hoc subscription. The North America circuit extends it per distribution, without a separate contract.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need North America distribution to be SIX-compliant? +

No. Swiss ad hoc publicity only requires distribution to SIX Exchange Regulation, electronic information systems, Swiss media of national significance, your subscribers and your website. North America distribution is additional reach for issuers whose communications strategy targets US and Canadian audiences – it is not part of the regulatory minimum.

How is this billed? +

There is a small annual maintenance fee (CHF 750) and then you will be charged per distribution, not as part of your annual ad hoc subscription. You use it when you have a release that warrants North American reach, and you pay only for those releases.

What does the North America list cover? +

Databases and aggregators such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, Dow Jones and LexisNexis; broker and financial terminals; major US and Canadian financial media and portals; analysts, dealers and institutions. It also includes Yahoo Finance and Investing.com. The full recipient list is accessible in the downloadable PDF.

Can I combine it with my regular ad hoc release? +

Yes. A release that must go out ad hoc under Art. 53 LR can also be sent to the North America circuit in the same workflow – the regulatory recipients and the North American reach are handled together, not as two separate uploads. Adding North American distribution to your regular releases only requires one additional click to include or exclude it.

Do you reach Yahoo Finance? And why is this so important? +

Large institutional investors have access to Bloomberg, which we reach in OTS (original text service) via AWP already. Smaller institutional investors, retail investors and many journalists do not have a pricey Bloomberg subscription. Yahoo Finance is their go-to place. With Newsfile's North American distribution, your news will be published on Yahoo Finance and therefore be visible in OTS.

Is it correct that Apple Stocks is fed by Yahoo Finance as well, and why is this important? +

Yes. Yahoo Finance is a main source for Apple's Stocks app, and in many jurisdictions, news published on Yahoo Finance will also be published in Stocks under the respective ticker. This means Newsfile's North American distribution can make your news visible to Apple users globally.

What about Investing.com? +

Yes, Newsfile North American distribution will reach Investing.com. Together with Yahoo Finance, Investing.com is one of the financial portals with the broadest reach. In most cases this will not be OTS (the full original text), but an AI-based summary of your release. Without a direct feed to Investing.com, its AI lacks the material needed to create that summary.

Will I get readership information? In what form? +

Newsfile provides extensive readership data, and you will have access to this information via schedulR.

Is this the same as the AWP feed? +

No. The AWP feed, included in every ad hoc subscription, broadens reach across Swiss and European terminals and media. The North America circuit is a separate, per-distribution extension that reaches into the US and Canada, which AWP does not cover.
